trailer park

The breaking down of vinyl paneled walls
Muddy water right at your waist
Tin roof trailers touched by poverty
Swept away like paper boats, built like paper mache

The houses of brick and stone, uncompromising,
took the same unrelenting beating
- yet the foundation remained
New to tragedy but taken with dignity

Mama said there is a simple honor -
in loose change and rusted siding
We fight much harder to get back up on our feet
Reparations are just in good timing

That first stanza is difficult to surpass! And I cherish also the first two lines of the last stanza. An accomplished poem throughout!
