letting someone hurt you

So Long

On the steps of a high school late at night I watched
my tears fall,
Looking back I remember, that warm September
those warm memories I do recall.
Your strong hand touching me gently, those sweet words
speaking to a heart so alone,
I believed my prince charming had arrived
my soul rejoiced for it would no longer
be deprived.
I had a love all my own...
The laughter oh Lord, the jokes awoke the person
so far away,
Looking back I see a fantasy, a wishful reality
a dream from yesterday.
The truth is you painted a picture that never could
be real,
You took a heart so giving,
made it difficult in living,
Stripped my inner self to no longer feel.
All I had you saw as unworthy, promised me a
better life, yet all I was to gain,
Was heartache and humiliation,
financial ruin and devestation
You promised me the sun, yet you gave me rain.
I sit on the steps so crowded with memories so
overwhelmed with shame,
So listen and heed
you will pay for every wrongful deed,
There is only one player now in your game...

Love Knight
I love that ending, it is strong and firm. and a kick to the whole poem. I love it.
