pyrite

Everything is subject to change and evolve
with the daunting pressure of life and the years that unfold
Even the many gods are unstable and their rules fickle and fluid
All the wine I've poured, but I still see right through it

Each new year, I find myself biting this world -
as if it's a questionable pearl
Unable to distinguish between fable and reality
Gritty, it always is, and I chip my tea stained teeth immediately

Can't take it at face value, if it shines then I'm suspicious
Held you close for three years now, but somehow also at an arm's distance
Everyday I wake up to the idea of you simply falling out of love
and I tell myself we're all no better than Autumn leaves, accidentally deceiving
