A poem about a girl's dream of having their own fairytale ending

Fairytale Romance

When I was a little girl
I used to read the same storybooks all day and night
Wishing that I was the princess, that was
Whisked off by the handsome prince

Every night I would wish
I would pray to God that someday
I'd also be, living a fairy tale of my own
But I don't think that's what fate had in plan
Because until now
no one has ever reached out their hand to me
and save me from my macabre dreams

If Cinderella had Prince Charming
If Jasmine had Aladdin
Why can't I find a prince to call my own?

Do I have to try on a glass slipper?
Fall into a deep sleep just so
My true love would come rescue me?
From this life I lead

I am older now
And the storybooks have been long since put away
I've faced reality, but I still can't help but hope that someday
I would find that one special person
Who will grant my every fantasy?

If Belle had a beast who turned into a handsome Prince
If Jasmine had Aladdin
Why can't I find a prince to call my own?
Do I have to eat a poisoned apple like Snow white ?
Fall into a deep sleep just so
My true love would come rescue me?

Do I need to love in a tower with out doors like Rapunzel
So that my true love
Can rescue me?

The Clock is ticking
And I am running out of time
Will I ever find my own prince?
Before I age into immortality
