A letter to daddy Ann Wood
A letter to dadHi Dad!
I stole a little time
to write you that I'm fine.
Out of breath, I follow big dreams
and nothing can stop me on the way.
I haven't forgotten you. I think about you a lot!
And I know you miss me - it weighs on me
but we must grit our teeth, for God's sake!
a man in his weakness most often errs...
That's what you used to teach me, dad
when I was afraid of the black darkness
when I used to binge eat sweets
or tripped over the doorstep!
Then he used to tell me-''Head up!
Step temptation, pain and fear!''
You squeezed my hand gently and tightly
and I quickly fought them off.
I grew up happy with you and mom.
I understood what loyalty, love and comfort are...
I'm ready now! And never will
let the human cold frighten me!
That's how it is with me... Write how are you?
Did you find cheap, dry wood?
Does mom take her medication regularly?
Do you still smoke a pipe in the afternoon?
I'm sending you some money. Have at it.
Don't be mad at me and don't ask why.
It's already cold outside. Winter is coming...
Buy shoes for mom a coat!
I kiss you hard and please daddy
don't worry! I'm fine.
I will come at Christmas, even if only for a short time.
I love you!
Your big kid.
