Musings on a cold fireplace in need of cleaning

Ashes

Ashes spent from last night’s fire

Gray and cold void of life

Freely given as flames require

That logs provide their sacrifice

Warming the room in heat and light

But more than these an ambiance

Warming my heart’s grateful delight

As shadows move in startling dance

Will my ashes be the proud detritus

Providing someone a joyful ambiance

From my living’s parry and thrust

Or merely gray spent ashes perchance

Lots of warm and wise musings from a cold ash fireplace.
Truly thought provoking.

A skilful succinct meditation on life's bequest; It stays in my mind, a good thing.
