SS ST LOUIS CARRYING 900 REFUGEES 1939 (Work In Progres)(Aditans)

In 1939, a luxury liner set out a voyage of hope to America

900 German Jewish refugees from Hamburg Germany

Onboard the SS St. Louis
On reaching New York, the refugees looked out of the portholes

Others lined the rails, so to see, the statue of liberty, with her torch guiding

The ship and those onboard into a safe port
They had hopes, and expectations, of a worm welcome there
Only to find they were not welcome into America, the land of the free!

Hitler said ' Even the Americans, do not wont - THE JEWS! '

The captain decided to set course for Cuba, finding there was no welcome

Though those boats sailing around the ST. Louis, giving food to the refugees
The captain had no alternative but set a course back to Europe
The U K, refused to take any refugees on board the ST Louis, as did the rest of

Europ
The Captain finally took the ship back to Hamburg!
Where, the 900, refuges, ended up in camps, only a very few, survived the war!

And we all should know what happened next!

There is much now coming out that happened in the 1930s. That has me thinking of events of recent times.

Ken it’s critical that you retell this story. Your style is surgical as always. I am at a loss to understand how we as a race have not learned from history. It’s men and women such as you that hold our collective feet to the fire by reminding us of the horrors we have so casually perpetrated. I pray that one day it will sink in.

Well done Ken, a harrowing story that I knew about; and nothing changes - except the worlds indifference to suffering.

Interesting story and sad, Ken. It hurts to know you're not
wanted anywhere. Well done.
