—a poem written in alexandrine meter

Good Advice for Ne'er-Do-Well Naysayers

To suffer the insults of fools is a worthless thing.
Dismiss, and disregard, unthinking, tactless fellows;
who've nothing else to do, like court jesters of a king,
than peevishly chide, rail (roaring protests and bellows).

'Tis better to grant honors, praises, marked in fame.
Or, when laurels are scarce, offer instead your support:
sweet words incline the ears, indictments just inflame
(for only ne'er-do-wells blitz you as a last resort).

Masterful writing, my man. Truly masterful. The alexandrine is a hard steed to tame. You've done so well
