December 31, 2023.
it has been a while, hi everyone!
like ball and chain shackles
Bare their weight with every step towards you
to show you we are in this together
I don’t intend to ever be freed
from your checkered past
The cuts are too deep, the smell of death too strong
but I long for a future with you
I will keep watch during every shadow filled night
from the rooftops - telescope in sweaty hand
to make sure you can rest easy
but I hope one day to sleep peacefully beside you

I will wear the moon and sun around my ankleslike ball and chain shackles
Bare their weight with every step towards you
