written for banjo (not yours)
I think animal crackers make people think that all animals taste the same
I once swallowed the world
and let the world swallow me
the bells went still silenced for thee
First I swallowed the sky
its burning clock
and with it the prints benign grown flock
Then sailing above
in the deepest of blue
looking down the rope where I once was you
I want to touch the scar
of your unborn child
the one much loved now still kept wild
I ate your loss
your failures and fears
devoured the void between your years
I swore to swallow the world
with our undone
and in its fold a raging sun
So do not blame
the wasted rules
the merry hymns were made by fools
