RE-LIGHTING MY FIRE

The proverbial ink
Had dried in my pen
And days had passed
Without me writing
Even a single line.
But then I somehow clicked
On an old email
From a poet friend
Who has passed over.

He sent me an incomplete
Under-construction poem
For me to comment and
Give him feedback on.
Whenever I read him
I am inspired and wish
His lines were mine
That I could emulate,
Even slightly, his style.
He still gives me
The desire to improve
My poetry skills.
Thank you friend, Rick,
For re-lighting my fire.

Thanks from us too. I can understand. I also take these long breaks, until i must come here to inhale.

Old poets never die,
They live on in the mind's of the readers.
Sorry to hear he's passed on Allen.
