GIFT FOR SANTA BY ANN WOOD
My friends granddaughter prepared a gift for Santa Claus. She thought of it herself, personally wrote it for him and put it under the tree. He had never thought that the good old man also needs someone to show him love and respect. And not only him. We are used to only taking, but not giving. A consumer society. We get angry when we don't get something we decided we deserve. We always consider ourselves undervalued, unloved, under respected, underpaid... The wisdom of a 6-year-old child made him think about some important things in life. One of them is that first you have to give, and then expect to receive something. And to do it selflessly, not by virtue of a deal or obligation. Those who are used to only taking sooner or later reach the point where... they don't get anything. Simple life logic that some people don't understand, even when they grow old. Those who only want to receive love, but not to give it, sooner or later reach the moment when they are left alone. Even on Christmas Eve, which is a cruel sentence that he do not wish on anyone. But it is never too late to change and try to be a good person. He wish his friends to be healthy and have a happy Christmas, surrounded by people who love them. And may the New Year be better than the last. It depends on us.Short story by Ann Wood
