as i watch the moon with my telescope ,an untouched silence is there

silent craters

looking up at sky
my telescope lens
lets me watch a big
moon never watched
close and clear
the craters never walked
but feels as if somebody
might have ever lived
silence clear and naive
untouched and deep......
were ever people there
or ever lands lost
cities destroyed ?
was i ever here in
celestial dust?

It is indeed strange and intriguing. Buzz Aldrin called it a "Magnificent Desolation". Who knows what our bodies have been part of in the past. Can you see the planets as well with your telescope?

I can remember one night when the moon loomed so large in the sky that I was amazed by its clarity of its desolate landscape. You cannot but wonder about the possibility of previous civilisations on celestial bodies like that; especially as this one seems hell bent on destroying itself! What will it be like when mankind has blown himself sky high, looking up at the earth from the surface of the moon?
Forgive my verbosity, but your intriguing poem has inspired such thoughts. Thank you. Blessings, Allen
