Corrupted Organisms

When the professor observes that the student is the victim of a racist smear campaign, they may slightly inflate the student's exam grades, thereby creating a form of restorative justice.

Thanks to these good grades, the student—who struggles to integrate into professional life—can at least showcase excellent academic results that helped them earn their degree. This, in turn, creates discomfort among employers whose hiring policies are influenced by the social climate.

Thus, the professor has materialized a social injustice they identified in their mind—one that would otherwise be accepted by society and lead to distress and social decline for the racialized citizen. Well, at least that’s something!
