confidant

it is very quiet

after my friend has gone

the door is closed

the lock is turned—click

her absence leaves a void

the silence is profound

i had forgotten—being alone is hard

a skill I haven't mastered

i miss sharing thoughts

sharing confidences

i miss her easy laughter—

the sound of her laughter

i miss the us of us—

the smile that begins in her eyes

i miss full length sentences

uninterrupted by caesuras

i savor the absence—

the missing means it's real

Yes, So true
I savour the absence.
Missing the full length sentences
the easy laughter and the glow in the eyes...and thetwinkling smile..
Yes, so so well said, Otp

It is a feeling I share - so well described in your poem. I can survive happily on my own, 'in my own company', but in those intervals of initial separation after enjoying the company of a loved-one, in particular, the silence is the first signal of the void their leaving has created. Deserves accolade. Blessings, Allen
