Good Tidings

My saviour Christ fought against sin and darkness
People pulled his beard and spat on His beautiful face
He remained silent like a sheep ready to be slain
He took the blows and mockery in complete silence

He was and is God of gods and Lord of lords
Mighty God incarnated into a frail human
When the appointed time came
He preached about the kingdom of heaven in parables

The ones who believed in Him got healed
Lame walked, blind received their sight, lepers healed and even the dead came back to life
Many of them received both physical and spiritual healing

They pushed the venomous thorny crown on His head
Strong hands raised in the air
The sharp metal teeth sunk into His tender flesh
Tearing apart the flesh like a ploughed land

They laid upon Him the heavy cross
Condemning Him for a cursed death
Agony and blood covered His beautiful face
Slow and tired steps dragged towards Calvary

"Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" echoed throughout the universe
But God the Father had turned away His face
The eternal fellowship with God the Father was cut off
Because my Saviour was laden with the sins of this entire world

A spear struck His side; blood and water flowed out
His holy blood shed for the remission of mankind's sin
Had been carried unto the altar of God in Heaven
Mighty enough to wipe out all kinds of sins

Now God the Father is calling to the whole humanity
Because He had given His only begotten Son
Who paid the price of sin on the cross
Now believe in Him and be saved

My Saviour defeated the dark forces on the cross
He has transformed the curse into blessing
"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Death is swallowed up in victory."
Hallelujah! Glory and Majesty belong to our God.
