Projecting Manliness

I'd be lying if I said her absence hasn't bothered me,
But that's okay.  I lie a lot.  I'd rather weave a tapestry
Of falsehoods indicating that I'm self-contained, that I
Prefer the solitude of epic heroes to some woman's
Company.  I think that I seem stronger then.  The truth
Would portray me diminished, listless, moping, stuck
Inside, so (should I leave) I pledge to bluster.  I'll assert
Her absence hasn't meant a thing to me.
