an attempt at captivating the romantic heart

Moonlit Knight

Moonlit Knight

Tiny rays of light shoot through the treetops standing
like sentinels above you. They wake you from your
dream state to a glorious breaking day. You stretch
your limbs, inhaling the fragrance of the Morning
Glories spreading their petals to embrace the warmth
of the sun, who is showering down its golden droplets
of love on the sleepy world.

The stream makes a tinkling melody as it cascades over
moss covered stones, traveling lazily on it way through
the lush forest that surrounds you. You linger
momentarily, wiping nights blur from your eyes, absorbing
the tranquility of this haven. A smile crosses your face
as you think of his armor, shinning in the moonlight like
some mystical story from ages passed. The strength of
his arms still felt around you.

Your heart leaps inside your chest, remembering his voice,
echoing in the halls of your mind biding you to come with
him to his fortress. The towers of which, stand tall, their
brilliance only seconded by the magnificence of their
strength. You close your eyes again, tracing his face in
your heart. The deep swirling pools of blue that drew
you into them and held you captive. Like honey
stolen from the hive was the tenderness of his kiss.

Fear rises in you; questioning your hold to reality
was this Knight, was he flesh and bone, or an
imaginary hero created from the loneliness that
accompanies you through life? You wrap your
arms around yourself dreading the answer.
knowing that you wish not to spend another
hour without love, or one more day without
another heart to bind to yours. A tear escapes
your eye and trickles down your cheek to the
clover, which was your pillow.

Like the sounding of trumpets was the joy in your
heart as you rested on his shoulder. Your soul had
taken wings to soar above mountaintops, gliding
on the currents of expectations. You grip tight
your heart, refusing to let go of this feeling inside
you. Then, a finger catches the tear that now
descends, and his voices whispers softly next
to your ear. "M'lady, weep not! Your heart
leaps to new heights as you turn into the arms
of your Moonlit Knight.
