I am Who I am
You say you will love me when I am different than now,When I bend to your mold and become like you some how,
You say that I am not what you think I should be,
When will you allow me to just be like me.
I try with my heart to do what I think is right,
But you see it as wrong, try hard as I might,
I'm told that I'm selfish and that I don't care,
When its just to be different and me that I dare.
There is so much about me that you just don't see,
The person I am that longs to be free,
There's a spirit inside me that wants to be known,
But hides in the darkness, afraid and alone.
She has much to offer, so many things to share,
But condemnation and ridicule hold her captive there.
Her cries to be heard fall on unhearing ears,
So I am who I am, sits in silence and tears.
