The Fall often brings a new love to replace an old. One from last Autumn

Mysterious Thoughts In The Fall by M.A.Meddings

What if?
I kissed your face
And you with eyes that shine
Return my kiss with gentleness
What then?

What now?
That you enjoyed
The kiss, kissed me back
Touched my face, love in your eyes
What then?

What could
I do with fire
Except deny 'twas there
Form a break, an emptiness
Deny.

But can
I find the strength
To walk away from this
Pounding throbbing presence of you
I might

If you
Will yet forgive
Romantic paramour
Mysterious thoughts in the fall
Autumn.

The "what if's" are the fire! The fire that surround us in the colors of the autumn leaves. The changes that are surely coming after the beauty in the death of the leaves and then the harshness of the cold winter. The "what ifs" keeps the embers burning deep withing our souls. It is a bittersweet warmth that may never die or silently pass away. But Spring, ah spring! New life blooms and then the summer again...the fragrance of romance once again fills the air with fresh new flowers. Beauty in your writing is such a pleasure to read :) xx kathy

Beautiful poem, Mike. =) What if's and what now's and why's are always the hardest questions to ask, because we don't know. And it tortures our hearts and minds so intensely. Just wondering...

Excellent work again my friend,
Z
