Long ago I sat on a beach on the Northern Shores of Caithness trying to find myself. The only friend I had then was a dog. Then I scrawled her name, hoping she would return. She never did.

But I survived to write anothers name

On Lonely Beaches I wrote Your Name by M.A.Meddings

I walked on lonely beaches
And watched the sadness in empty skies
Then in barefoot reflection
I paced the swishing edge
Of wave crashed jetsum
Seaching the debris of life
Until I found it
A razor edged shell
It seemed perfect
And thus at the high mark
Of a tide run
In the compacted sand
I wrote your name
Then dreamed that you might come to me
And resting within my lonliness
You would
Soothe the hurt of other summers
But on forlorn hopes I waited
As they became dashed with each
Succeeding; pulsing wave
Until eventually
Your name was washed from the sand
But not out of my heart

you know that if once written in sand
she will appear on that exact location , but give her time as time moves in circles .
This might be your most beautiful and heartbreaking piece ever.

Lost letters written in washed-away sand
Lasting scars on my heart made by my hand...
Frolicking waves of the sea rolling as the world passes...
I watch you in the waves through frosted glasses...

Beautiful Mike. =) I really liked the imagery of this one. But a name cannot be washed out of our heart, because even as we heal, there are some scars and memories left to us... Oh what a wonderful dream...

How sweet, loving, and bittersweet are you words. The imagery was vivid in this poem even the sadness, hopefulness, and then resign were clearly scene and felt. Beautiful poem. xx kathy

As beautiful as always, hero!
It expresses feelings I unfortunately can recognize so well. And the scene rolls before my imagination just like a film.
