This is a short poem I wrote describing a 5 minute chunk of this particular evening.

Major With Minor Overtones

While driving home this evening, the public radio station, which is usually 3DB softer than all the other stations, played a selection of classical music revolving around the oboe.

It was the kind of music that determines one to live longer. For it reminds us that we are still too young to appreciate the oboe. I, however, had no interest in appreciating the oboe, so I began to close my eyes.

I closed my eyes for as long as I could before becoming afraid. I don't know why I close my eyes when I'm driving alone at night. But this particular evening I felt that, if I closed my eyes long enough, I might get lucky.
