it bcan be found in London's 'Tales of the Yukon'
but essentially see the preamble to the Poem
My Friend by M.A.Meddings
Jack London's preoccupation, in many of his works, with the concept of the primeval'Wolf dog,' whose wild nature is tamed by man is given another twist in this story.
In his celebrated 'Call of the Wild' and 'White Fang' the dogs are tamed by kindness. In this story the dog is brutally subdued by his owner. Yet when the owner, 'Black Pierre, is falsely accused in a 'frontier trial' of murder and found guilty, the dog exacts a terrible revenge.
The sentence of death is about to be carried out by standing the man on a wooden barrel with the rope around his neck and cast over the branch of the 'Hanging tree'.
Just as someone is about to kick the barrel away, a cry of 'gold' from across the river attracts, every ones attention and the man is left teetering on the barrel, with only the dog as company. The dogs chance has come. Hope you enjoy
Now it is my turn
Canine fury
Now I have you
All the years I endured
Your cruelty
Now I have you
But Batard
I was a good master
You were a pup
And a little chaser
I was cruel
Just to be kind
Batard! good dog
They call me
Black Pierre
but was i not
your master
My friend
Teeter on the barrel
Black Pierre
Now it is my turn
I think with the rope
Around your neck
Now I have you
Just a jump away
A little shove
On salvation Cask
And you will swing
For me
My Friend
But Batard
Who will feed thee
Other than me
keep away
Dont do it
My Friend
Aaaagh!!!!!!!!!
