a tag on my jeans said 'designed to fade'...i think it applies to more than just clothing
Pine trees tall, lacking in girth
Dot the hill, marching
to the red horizon standing still
Canopies wide, like a net
for all the angels falling from the sky
Patchy, seen through shadows
that move about silently
I walked along that line
To meet you, halfway up that street
With the sun in my eyes,
my hand on a leash,
Getting pulled along by the
best bud of the greatest man I know
And we crossed that intersection together.
You always made me accept,
No exceptions, no questioning allowed
And I wonder, if all my naïve honesty
was ever slightly matched
If the brilliance always seen by me
Was destined to lose character
If co-dependence had a used by date
If hope and love and all I cared for
Was just designed to fade.
