I wrote this in high school (apx 15 years ago). I still like it and my teacher at the time loved it. I thought it would be a good poem to start my membership with.

Death in Winter

Gray snow spirals downward.
The mourners cling together,
They cry for the precious Heather.
Her porcelain skin, cold as metal
and violet lips, posed in a frozen kiss.

The chilled waters stole her life,
robbed her grace,
ended her youth.
Stone faced friends, heart broken lovers
shocked from the truth.

Ocean waters beckoned to her, enticed and seduced.
Angels cried to see the amount to which she was reduced.

Reaching to the east she wailed,
yearning to join her love.
He was taken away that winter on a ship.
They believed he now rested abouve.

Dear Heather crazed with longing journeyed into the deep.
It shook the mountains to see how the heavens did weep.

Upon the horizon yesterday a ragged man did appear.
The only sorrowful words he uttered were
"I'm back Heather dear".

Does this not make you gasp with its shocking beauty? It's like a finely cut diamond, each facet reflecting new brilliance and color.
