This is a poem I wrote because of a costume a friend of mine wore to my b-day party. I hope you like it.

Runaway Bride

Runaway Bride

I was sitting by myself
I'd picked a book from off the shelf

But then a knock came to the door
So I got up and crossed the floor

I opened it and looked outside
There I saw a runaway bride

Her dress was torn, she had the blues
And on her feet were tennis-shoes

I let her in and talked to her
I asked her what her problems were

I asked her why she was so sad
She placed the blame upon her dad

She said that he was mean and cruel
And that he was an utter fool

"He picked a man for me to wed."
"But," she said, "I'd sooner be dead!"

I thought this over in my mind
And told to ther that she should find

A knight in shining armor who
Will never make her sad or blue

And keep her laughing all her life
And she would be a happy wife

She then went to remove the veil
And I had thought my eyes had failed

It was that girl I knew so well
And now her motive I could tell

And I knew why here she did flee
She'd run away because she loved me

This ended well and I hope that you would reciprocate her love.
