Memories Drum Song ~ Epitaph challenge by M.A.Meddings

"Animal skin drums pound loud
Like many hearts beating all at once
Deepening the call for the lost one
That was loved by all suddenly
He was here and now tearfully gone,
Remembered now in this jungle paradise
Where oceans weep of memories song.

About the Other Side (For lastromantichero's Epitaph Challenge)

If the whole archer
bends to the bow,
The brain processes a thought
looks like stormclouds.
Nervous, furious with passion
for the rosebud here
yet inquisitive
about the other side

Lastromantichero's challenge: Epitaph over an alien

Shipwrecked
Misplaced
Displaced

Having wandered in search of a place
to come from

Disowned
Denied
Left over

Fatherless
Useless
Graceless

Is not here

Was never here

Just - somesphere

The gates are closed
The engines are igniting
Inside the window, the Magic Tree sings

Love at last ~ epitaph
I know the stars now
Times where hard

Cold truth lays beside me
I only ask once

Love me when im gone

Will You Love Me? (A Response For lastromantichero's Epitaph Challenge)
I love you in this life.
Will you love me in this life?
How about in the next life,
On the other side?
Death is the end
Of marriage and all earthly things.
But if heaven is truly heaven,
Then will there be no love?
I knew not the meaning of the word
'Till I knew you.
I am leaving the world
For a better place, as they say.
I looked into your eyes
And understood the meaning of heaven.
I know what awaits the other side.
Let there be no tears.

By Thomas Perdue

A Response for lastromantichero's Epitath
Now I lay me down to die
Those around me do not cry
For I was blessed with many friends
Now make my way to make amends
In what I hope is paradise
And in the arms of Jesus Christ.

My 9/11 numerical epitaph(lastromantichero's epitaph challenge)

9/11 A day of grief imprinted on human history

casualties of the September 11, 2001

29,000 children + 2,793 people(NY)

9/06 A threat to childhood

casualties of the September 06, 2006

29,000 children

Every day,
29,000 children under - five die
from poverty, hiv/aids and armed conflicts.

Do we cry and feel sad every day???

I just wonder. ...

Think. ...

Where is the tomb of the unknown child?

Grave yard of dreams

It's in the grave yard of dreams i now walk
and there to the gostly shadows i do talk
my spiritual wreck is buried here
with all my memories and all my fears
and beside them lay only one regret
that you my true love
i had never met.

So if by chance you should happen by
stay a while but do not cry
lay a flower without a tear
to comfort me in all my fear
and i will watch you from above
cherish and care for you
my - true love.

RIP. Ylva's epitaph for the Hero's challenge

Here rests Ylva
the She-wolf.

Her name rhymed
with only one thing

and not even exactly.

But it was the right one.
For someone.

Rabbit, rip in peace...
Eh... I mean, rest in piece
Hmm... rip to pieces?...

Legal Incantations a lighter entry to the hero's challenge

Here lies the body
Of Douglas Day
Who died
Whilst insisting
On his right of way
Whilst in law
His case was strong
He is just as dead
As if he had been wrong

Swansong (let them say...)

He once believed in Kings and Queens,
The magic world of Alice;
He loved the grace of fairy tales,
The freedom of the breeze.
He often dreamed of distant lands,
Of Shangri La and Samarkand.

In later years, he paused for hours
And spun romantic yarns
Of Kublai Khan, Omar Khayyám
Of pyramids and towers.
He never thought how frail the house
That he was building for himself.

Bold spirit, faithful wanderer,
That could pretend so long
Those pitiless eyes of winter
Would long suffer such a song.
Those eyes which scoff at Kings and Queens
Carved frozen wastelands from your dreams.

He built again, that spirit bold,
This time more firm and strong,
A refuge for his minstrel soul
Which might withstand the cold;
A pyramid, a sanctum tower
In which to fret away his hours.

He bleeds. Within that citadel
He bleeds and rarely dreams
Of distant lands, of Kublai Khan,
Cursed by that shameful spell.
He never thought how dread the house
Would be he chiseled for himself.

Grave spirit, precious wanderer,
Hunched in your prison cell,
I sing this requiem for you,
I know you, oh, so well.
Those damned eyes will not belong
When last you sing your final song.

Going Home (Response to Hero's Epitaph challenge) By Liola Lee
I came here just to visit,
On borrowed time some say,
Delivered by the Angels
On a path to find my way.

I danced in my fairy shoes
And sang a serenade
To life, love and happiness
So please don't be afraid.

The time has come for me to go,
I'm going home to play
With Angels in Paradise
I can no longer stay.

Please don't be sad for me,
I really am alright,
Just think of me loving you
O My Darliing .....Good Night.

Remember Well (Epitaph Challenge)
Life was all but a memory
Well it was now
I felt every last breath of him
Every last thought
Every last emotion
And yet It feels like he never left

I tell myself that he is still here
In my heart filling the void
But he has passed on
To a place of love devotion

I will always remember
The thoughts instilled in my memory
They like him will always stay
As a bookmark in the page of my heart

Autumn
How many days remain for you
to roam around this harrowed earth
so painfully and deeply scarred by failures,
mostly only failures, not just of your own
but of so many lost and wasted lives
and. worst of all, too many friends who died too young.
I could write epitaphs in all eternity
just to bewail them and cry out their sorrows and my own
for what they failed in, what they never could accomplish,
all their unfinished invaluable work
and, most of all, the loss of their too precious souls.
But they are all still out there somewhere
waiting maybe for another opportunity
or for a better world, but they could wait for that forever,
since we haven't seen much betterment for some millennia.
Sorrow keeps me company with falling leaves
in flaming colours red of blood or love or both
while no tears are enough to cry out all the pain
of this so wasted tragical and futile life and world.

Time's Captives ~ Epitath Challenge

Cast not your eyes of grey down here
For I am free from all pain and fear
I dwell amongst the angels of heaven
And lived my days of thirty-seven

Drink all that earths sweet beauty yields
Gaze upon these flowered fields
Inhale deep breaths of all life gives
Embrace the ones you love and live

My Epitaph~~ (Hero's Challenge)
~~~She loved and she was loved.~~~
Katherine Lockhart
Contented (Epitaph challenge)
Sing ye not a song of lament
For a contented man lies here
He met the challenges of life in full
And in death, faced his greatest fear
