I've experienced the rush--it's quite a lot faster than I had expected, and it inspired me.
and given the chance to take the other path.
Those of us who refused stand here now,
beating their way through the forces opposing them.
"falling forward,
rushing downward,
scarcely moving on my own--
wind around me,
passing through me,
nothing but my goal ahead."
I fell at first, the tides crashing down upon me,
scarcely able to stand in spite of myself.
Now I can resist it all, as I struggle to my feet,
throwing myself headlong into the raging current.
"falling forward,
rushing downward,
scarcely moving on my own--
wind around me,
passing through me,
nothing but my goal ahead."
For a moment, I may catch a breath--
and realize I'm going to live through it all.
It's then that my eyes are opened to the experience;
and for but a moment, I understand why I'm here.
"rushing forward,
speeding downward,
scarcely moving on my own--
wind behind me,
passed before me,
reaching to the world beyond.
I can keep up the rush."

Rush
We'd been warned of the current ahead, and given the chance to take the other path.
Those of us who refused stand here now,
beating their way through the forces opposing them.
"falling forward,
rushing downward,
scarcely moving on my own--
wind around me,
passing through me,
nothing but my goal ahead."
I fell at first, the tides crashing down upon me,
scarcely able to stand in spite of myself.
Now I can resist it all, as I struggle to my feet,
throwing myself headlong into the raging current.
"falling forward,
rushing downward,
scarcely moving on my own--
wind around me,
passing through me,
nothing but my goal ahead."
For a moment, I may catch a breath--
and realize I'm going to live through it all.
It's then that my eyes are opened to the experience;
and for but a moment, I understand why I'm here.
"rushing forward,
speeding downward,
scarcely moving on my own--
wind behind me,
passed before me,
reaching to the world beyond.
I can keep up the rush."
