I was a Mod not a Rocker and took part in the CND marches to Aldermaston where the Atomic Weapons establishment had a huge complex and still does. They were organised by Canon Collins head of the Campaign for nuclear disarmament.

On The Road To Aldermaston by M.A.Meddings an entry to spot the hippie challenge

The girl was real. The duffel coat I wonder if she still has? And before you ask, no I havent still got the love bite. Those marches were always forfronted by a New Orleans style jazz band

It was not that I was into
Ladies dresses and flower tinto
It was really the jazz
The old razzamatazz
That attracted my attention
Oh and did I forget to mention?
The girl who stole my duffel coat
And left a love bite on my throat
At Beauleigh

She really made a man of me
For 'peace be with you brother'
I never told my mother
But the girls attributes
Far outweighed the shame
My mother swore I'd gain
From mixing with the 'Collins set'
'Wanna bet mom I said
What would i do instead'?

They can ban the bomb forever more
If I can only share a floor
With Geraldine the beautiful dream
Who stole my duffel coat
Then made a mess of my throat
On the road to Aldermaston

Dear Mike,

Did you want to start a nuclear family with Geraldine?

I very much enjoyed this march into nostalgia.

With best wishes,

Chris
