Almost A Hippy
I was almost a hippy onceyeah I was nearly far out
I was a temporary a go go girl
I danced, and the croud did shout.
Though I wore too many clothes
long pants and turtle neck
I was good enought for Sonny and Cher
I opened for them by heck!
I wore hip hugger bell bottoms
I wore a wide black belt
I wore white boots and I'd trot them
According to how I felt
I had a fringed leather vest
And a leather band around my forehead
My long braids bounced
Until I got a sore head
I went to San Francisco
With flowers in my hair
Saw Height- Ashberry's fishbowl
And decided I didn't like it there
It was kind of dirty
And people looked scanked out
I almost smoked a joint one time
I just couldn't make the draw
I put it to my lips and felt the warmth of the fire
but decided that with Sonny and Cher and all
I couldn't get much higher
So I passed it along
And got out of that place
I sang a different song
And ran a different race
One time I drank some wine
Annie Green Springs was it's name
A couple of sips and I was fine
I was ready for some games
But someone else threw up
And I didn't want to fail
So I gave it up
And went back to Ginger Ale
Yes, I was almost a hippie
I got right next to it
But I was too much of a drippy
Fearful little snit
