Secret Love Sublime by M.A.Meddings
You believed that I knew naught of love
When I said that I truly loved you
And the thoughts I had were a fantasy
Should this gentle heart prove true
That I knew not what a true love meant
Save poetic words were thine
But my caring heart is yours for all
And will be to the end of time
When I found you once in the Autumn rains
Your heart he had broken then
And the love for him was a treasured thing
You had once found him again
Perhaps in me my words were kind
So gentle and tender fine
But they foundered there on a love so rare
That would be to the end of time
Then in early spring at a seasons turn
a fire within me grew
The love I found got stronger then
As the words I spoke were true
I could not win your heart again
Beautiful friendship yours and mine
But the secret love I had still burned
As it will to the end of time
For I could not leave you and be content
With an empty life and bare
For your friendship means the world to me
Companionship so rare
Dont think that I know naught of love
This secret love sublime
Subdued serene in its tenderness
True to the end of Time
