a broken ballad , written for piano
one little stone is all it takes
to ruin the day
so turn away
now that she is too made from that that breaks
She doesnt wait by the phone like she used to
with chapped lips in faded smiles
She doesnt wear that dress she used to
wear
one burning leaf is always hiding
underneath summer truths
one burning leaf becomes two
now that that winter springs from darkened mind
She no longer waits by the door like she used to
with images of the lake
She no longer wear that dress she used to
tear
one twisted arm is all it takes
to ruin a year
split into fragments of fear
now that she is too made from that which breaks
She doesnt walk quite like she used to
with her straight back across the rail
She no longer wears that summerdress she used to
wear
one little girl is always lost and gone
in a broken womans face
you can ruin a day but never break her grace
with just one stone
