A song called 'Did you ever' by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra inspired this poem. It is tongue in the cheek romantic. Bitter sweet foolery

The Next Time Baby by M.A.Meddings

Next time baby
I guess roses will do the trick
Whats that you say?
They make you sick
Well baby
The next time
Put them in water

Did I ever?
Would I never?
Oh! quite often

Think I wouldnt ?
No of course not
Or that I couldnt
Well why the hell not
Too old for cutting mustard ?
Wanna bet
Just come and try
My  custard Pie

My!  oh my !

Did I ever?
Would I never ?
Oh! quite often

And I do suppose
A kiss is out of question
And just in case it is
Forgot to mention
That when your in my arms
You will forget about his charms
when I pay to you
All of my attention

Did I ever?
Would I never?
Oh! Quite often

A very good poem!

But
- You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.

And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you."
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by. la la la
