animal cruelty.

Animal cruelty happens world wide and there is an ongoing struggle to stop it. In this text i will tell you about only a few things at what the animals today have to deal with, and i warn you now, brace yourself.

Animal experimentation.
Medial research accounts for only 3% of medial advances in this centry. At least five Billion of U.S tax dollors are poured into animal exsperiments every year.
Over 70 Million animals are tortured and killed in U.S labs, Rabbits are routinley blinded by having various products forced into thier eyes by many companies today. This is called the 'The Drazie test'. The Drazie test does not gaurentee human saftey but protects companies from potential law suits by thier customers, beacuse all theese money grabbing ba**ards think about or care about is money and thier own well being.

Factory farming.
Over ten Billion animals are slaughterd for human consumption annuallly, of that ten Billion at least six billion is derived from 'Broiler' Chickens which are killed after a short weeks life. Laying hens are usually kept in five or six to a fourteen inch square cage, and as many 20% die of stress or disease from living in theese sickening conditions.

Dairy.
At least of the ten million cows kept for milk in the U.S.A live on facotry farms, in conditions that cause tremendous suffering to the animals.
Cows of the 1990's live only about four to five years, as opposed to the life exspectancy of twenty to twentyfive years, enjoyed by cows of an earlier era.
To keep the animals at high levels of productivity, dairy farmers keep them pregnant constantly through the use if the artifical insemination, take thier offsping away at a young age and keep them in small cages.

The fur trade.
Aprox 3.5 million fur breading animals --Raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, nutria, beavers, muskrats, otters and others are killed by trappers in the USA.
Despite the fur industry's attempts to downplay the role of trapping in fur 'production', it is estimated that more than half of all the fur garments come form trapped animals. 2.7 million animals are harvested on 'fur farms'.

Hunting and harvesting.

Land.
on federal land alone (more than half a billion acres) more than 200 million animals are killed every year, hunting is premitted on 60% of US wildlife refuges and in many natinal forests and state parks. 45% of hunters do thier killings on public lands.

Exotic.
Every year thousands of animals like elephants, tigers, rhinos and other endangerd species are killed by poachers to sell on the black market, additionally, 'canned hunts' by exotic animals form a vary of sources, including zoo's to allow rich hunters the thrill of killing them.

Fishing.
Over harvesting of the oceans and seas has led to threatend populations of many fish and marine mamals. More than half a million seals are killed every year beacuse of compettiton with humans for removing the balences of new fish populations beacuse previous prey is disapearing.

Entertainment animals.

The circus.
since 1990, captive elepants have killed 43 people. the degree of suffering and cruelty of training techniques is clear when naturally peacful elephants attack humans.

Bull fights.
More than 40 000 bulls are killed every year in bloody bullfights around the world, for 'entertainment' the animals are tortured over the course of an hour, speared in thier backs before finally dying from blood loss and/or exhaustion.

Marine parks.
Killer whales (orca) and dolphins live only 25% of thier natural life exspectancy when captive. Normally they swim dozens of miles in the wild and suffer stress when kept in small pools and forced to preform tricks.

Dog races.
Up to 50 000 greyhounds are killed a year or sent to experimentation when they are no longer profitable for the racing industry.

Does animal testing work?
*Animal experiments can be misleading. An animals responce to a drug can be diffrent to a humans.
*Sucsessful alternatives include test tube studies on human tissue cultures, satistics and computer models.
*The stress that animals endure is labs can affect exsperiments, making the results meaningless.
*Animals are still used to test items like cleaning products, which bennifit mankind less than medicines or surgery.

Is animal testing morally right?
*Animals have as much right to life as a human.
*Strict conditions have not prevented reasarchers from abusing animals - although such instances are rare.
*Deaths through reasarch are absolutely unnecessary and are morrally no diffrent from murder.
*When locked up they suffer tremendous stress; can we know they dont feel pain?

IF NOT YOU
WHO?
IF NOT NOW
WHEN?
CAN YOU FACE THE TRUTH?
NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT A STOP TO TESTING ON ANIMALS.

ANIMALS HAVE A VOICE.
YOU.

Thank you for this wonderful piece. I am truly sickened by how animals get treated. Please everyone, donate time, or money if you can to your local Animal Cruelty Prevention Center. Here is the website. http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer

Animals can not speak out against what is being done to them. I have read so many stories in the paper about abuse to darling cats and dogs, and other animals. Only through awareness and caring can something be done.
