A Heartbeat In Time
I saw her standing in the shadowsMoonlight glistened in her hair
Like a million tiny raindrops
That danced upon the air
My breath was held in limbo
By this vision of the night
Her eyes caught in the lamplight
Shone like jewels within my sight
Be still my heart that fluttered
As a moth close to the flame
Her beauty took my heart by storm
Releasing latent chains
Desire and passion flooded through me
As my senses she now stole
Her scent a whisper on the wind
Caressed my very soul
Not a word was spoken
As she took me by the hand
And led me to the dance floor
To stand before the band
She put her arms around me
Her lips against my ear
My heartbeat to her every breath
In case she disappeared
She glided like an angel
On tiptoe in my arms
All the things that dreams are made of
As I sank within her charms
All the pain and sorrow left me
Could she really be the one?
Is this love and romance?
Or just a dewdrop in the sun
No sadness or regrets, or tears that I will share
I will take that what is offered
And handle it with flair
The past is where it now belongs
In the confines of my mind
My fate that of the future
And in my hands resigns.
