Anyone who has been to Edinburgh for Hogmanay will understand this one.

HOGMANAY IN AULD REEKIE

Sailing through the crowd
amidst a sea of faces
wave upon wave of people
from a hundred thousand places.
Born from the same beginning,
raised upon the nipple
we were a shimmer in the glimmer
of the moonlight on the ripple.
And I was just a drop
floating in this human ocean
swirling into whirlpools
where we spun the same emotion.
