Everyone had that special toy as a child. For me, it was "My Little Ponies". I had lots of them, they all had names. Sometimes I think about them, and wonder if they are lonely..

Faded Ponies

Faded Ponies

Shoved in a plastic bin

Long forgotten..many years in fact

Hair once so lusterous

A rusty orange tint

It seemed just yesterday

Adventures were plenty

They even had a castle

Pink, with blue tops

Yet now..they sit

Ever so silent

In a plastic bin

Forgotten by children

Who once cherished them

Yet..who could forget

The adventures we shared

Through the woods and

Even the Arabian desert

( my sandbox)

Still holding a place in my heart

No matter how worn they are

Memories that I will always cherish

Perhaps you will have another adventure

And maybe, just maybe

I will have a daughter someday..

And she will find

Her imagination

Through you

For me, it was probably books... and a barbie doll I hated, because the eyes wouldnt move. I was a bookworm before I was seven. Surprisingly though, I still dont wear glasses even after all that reading... I'm assuming it was practice for studying medicine. :P

You brought back memories with this one...

..ah this goes to my heart in a gallop ... I remember my daughters ponies and other cherished toys that where so alive ... and now they lay there waiting for someone to get them up and pick up the adventure again ... and yes someday they will be riding through the desert or fairy woods once more ...

a lovely and very heartfelt write ... it made sweet memories come alive

thanks

this is sweet Teala. I remember those ponies; my daugher Katie played with those. You described them perfectly. Yes, one day you will get those out and play with them again. Perhaps with your own child or with someone elses or even your grandchildren. As a grandparent (Nana), i love pretending with my grandchildren. They keep me young and keep my imagination working. Thanks for sharing this lovely piece.
