My Apologies

Close the blinds
And leave everything behind
I've swallowed back my pride
Like cheap wine
Please forgive me

I really mean my best
And I can't love you anymore
The way I love you now
And this can not continue

Think of me as you may
I forgive those
That I disobey
I'm not asking
For you to stay
And I'm sorry

It should have
Stayed the same
Neither of us
Should be to blame
I know this isn't
Some trivia game
These are my apologies

I cannot take
This anymore
Now to even out the score
I cannot stay with you anymore
I'm truly sorry

I never lied
Like I did before
Now our futures
Heading out that door

I know that
Our two hearts
Won't fit
I know I have nothing
To do with it

I wish in time
The world would freeze
Here I'm begging
On my knees
I've been wondering
If only you could
Do something
That you really should
Take my apologies

Excellent work Angel D, you raise the fact that some find it difficult to take an apology as much as others find them so hard to give. I love it. Thanks for posting. Just a little word, like love but so hard to utter. Meaning it makes all the difference of course too. Smiling at you, Tai

We all should forgive and forget, but sometimes it isn't that easy. An emotional poem, excellent work.
