My answer to a question recently put to me

I think the biggest misconception many people have is that this life this world, is the real world for us all as a whole but honestly that idea is dangerous simply because, although we do exist in this world together, and we are capable of forming many different and beautiful concepts together as a whole ... our worlds as we know them to be, are the real world for each of us on a completely individual basis. I am finding more and more that I believe that the forces that be thought it would be nice for us to not be alone on our journeys, but they had no intention of us traveling our paths as one huge combobulation of a society. I really feel the basic idea was for me to first and foremost discover my own truths as applicable to my own individual life, thus, leading to my own discovery and sense of self, then and only then armed with the knowledge of who I was placed here to be, create my own individual real world, as I as an individual would have it, according to the truth as I understand truth to be.

Until I am able to get to know my world intimately once I have named every new color and invented lovely smells and the tastiest of tastes, until I can reach into the clouds and draw down a dove who may teach me to fly and issue forth melodies so sweet, I could not expect to be able to immerse myself in the worlds, in the lives of others. My world may incomplete thus far, but once I give in to the community real world my own word dissipates never to be found again, and there I sit not knowing who or why I am and there in lies the danger of us as a society floundering together as a whole because we are too afraid to go it alone in an effort of self realization

To create ones world, to find ones truth completely, according to what s/he has come to know to be true is to offer up a priceless gift to all of those many other individuals who have come into their own worlds that we may share, teach, laugh, cry love and learn from each of our worlds respectively.

So in answer to the first question the real world is very real, only it is real on individual levels, this is the only way it really works. If you would make a group project out of living in the real world it will inevitably and irrevocably fail.
