I was reading my earlier poetry[not yet posted] from 1998/1999
and I also read Thomas Perdue's "Darkness" - A must read poem if you have not read it - and got this in my head.

HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY

Is Love a cold, dank dungeon
That traps and imprisons us
Behind steel walls, bound in tight, silver, biting chains?
Or is Love a blooming flower garden, full of sun,
Where we are free to move around as we wish?

Well that depends.....
Do you see the glass as half empty or half full
When it comes to trusting in love?

There are those who have trusted and "lost",
Been hurt by Love, thus they are
Untrusting, sceptical, even disbelieving.
They see Love's glass as half empty – a thing
Not to be felt or trusted.

Then there are those who have trusted and "won",
They feel happy and live life in sun, thus they are
Trusting, fully believing.
They see Love's glass as half full – a thing
Of beauty, they want everyone to feel it.

Of course, Love is not quite so black and white.
There are grey areas, those who have never been in love
But have heard about it and those too, who fall in lust,
Believing it to be love.

I believe Love's glass can be both half full and half empty,
That, just like Life, Love has no "written" rules and goes
Up and down like a see-saw.

To me, it is how you chose to deal with
Those ups and downs that decides whether
You view the glass as half empty or half full.

.....I'd rather see Life and Love as a glass half full.

Hi Liz, yes love does that to you. Sometimes its so light and frothy you feel you could fly round the moon and never land, sometimes its a deep dark place that entwines you with feelings of hate and frustration and that old green demon jealousy turns up and ruins the flavour.
But true love is like a summers day that goes on forver and when the sun finally sets it becomes deep crimson and red and leaves a tatse do pure theres nothing like it.
I enjoyed this a lot my Aussie Friend and well worthy of a bookmark.

This is a wonderful discussion piece. I enjoyed your presentation and I agree with your conclusion. Love is always worth the price.

An interesting perspective on love liz by a woman in love I guess? Don't answer that!lol You must understand that the cynic develops through painful experience that life throws at us, or them! It is hard to keep the glass half full when i want to drink up and get another pint!lol

Smiling at you
