Inspired by a song on radio with the same title.
Talking to an old flame bout a new flame. While writing it all down...this flowed from the tip of my pencil.

"It ends tonight"

It ends tonight.
It really ends tonight.
And I can't believe
I've reached the end of the road.
Isn't there more tar
On the other side of this wall?
Instead of scaling it
To find out,
I'm standing here
Sending you messages.

You reply and now you say
You love me too and it hurts.
If you had only been
Two weeks earlier.
If only you weren't
So afraid of reaching out
And touching me
Now that you know
I belong to someone else
It's easier for you.

"When darkness turns to light
It ends tonight
It's too late to fight..."
It's over baby
It's over
And nothing
No nothing
No amount of tears
Can make you special again.
Sigh.

After-thought: A matter of too little too late. The song is "It Ends Tonight" by All-American Rejects

You can't eat a meal twice; hunger can return, but it's for a different plateful. It's amazing how you can get over an old feast by going to a new restaurant. Try one that doesn't close for lunch.
