People Are Beginning To Talk by M.A.Meddings
People are beginning to talk
Simply about you and me
I think they all begin to see
What is really
Behind our words
How damned absurd
They think
Something is going on
It is really a shame
They have no ther game
To be playing
Why do they keep on saying these things
I mean to say
Does your heart have wings
To traverse the miles ?
And after all
Cant really call
This friendship anything but that
Why only the other day
A friend just happened to say
And how is your lady
The one you've been wooing
So openly
What is there to see
About you and me
The fact that I praise your poetry
Has nothing to do
With the heart of me
Its simply a part of admiring your text
So what is next?
Are we kissing?
Oh! no not yet
But its better than even bet
I want to
And so do you
But there is nothing
Thats going on
After all
Friends do kiss in a small way
No not every day
Just occasionally
So when I raise
The matter of your eyes
And that look of surprise
When I say you are pretty
Isnt it a pity?
That people talk
So what if I think you are beautiful
And your poetry so soft and gentle
Ok so?
You remind me of Monroe
Shall I go?
Is it so terrible
That you make me tremble
Like she did
I'm afraid people will talk
About the way I walk
With a skip in my step
And yep!
You can say I like you
You can say that too
If you really want to
That I love you
But you know how people will talk
