Dear God...
Dear God,"From sea to shining sea,"
You protect me,
Ruling proud throughout the land,
You lend a soft, caring hand,
From the span of the Bald Eagle's wing,
My voice cries out to you, as I sing,
A verse from my national hymn!
You say, "Adhere to MY every wish"?
I know that I should,
And by all means, I could,
But I do not,
All I care about is what's "hot",
I live for the celebrity's lives,
Wardrobe malfunctions and career nose dives,
Is what I know all about,
Tis in the Civil War, I have my doubts,
Was it Hancock that penned our Constitution,
Or did he discover air pollution?
Trying to sever myself from you,
Whom without, I could do...
Nothing!
When I recite and when I sing,
My allegiance to our home,
Away I try to roam,
From you and what founded me,
But I soon remember you are the key,
And then I crawl back,
And you always take me back!
Please help me to stay,
Keep me going the right way,
I am the best,
You've let me supersede the rest,
So, please work with Lady Liberty,
For she works for free,
And let me know what I have,
Before I loose it!
Thank you,
America
