Button by M.A.Meddings
I found a tiny button
A pretty little thing
And I placed it where It would be safe
Within my heart to sing
And day after day I held it close
That it would cheer me In my joy
I cherished it just like a flower
my tenderness to pIoy
And as I held it in my hand
A transformation was taking place
Instead of base mother of pearl
Came a lady fair of face
She smiled on me and thus declared
I am the lady of the button dear knight
And yours what wilst thou call me
Please declare my plight
I thought awhile as i watched her dance
Delightedly before me
And if I could have searched a lifetime more
There was non that could implore thee
For the brightness of her eyes became
her soft and gentle kiss
And the cuteness of her button nose
Declared her name as this
Dancing lady henceforth shall
This knight Just gently yours be
And for the promise of your kiss
He will Simply will just call ye
His treasured
Button
