Nightmare
I woke up this morning feeling unwellTo find myself ensconced in a hot fiery hell.
Could this be the DT',s or some awful bad dream
Or an integral part of some devils mad scheme.
I believed my situation to be somewhat quite dire
As I glimpsed through a door an enormous red fire.
With mounting trepidation and deepening gloom
I followed the sign saying, "This way to doom."
A mirror on the wall reflects my sad face
So no mistake then, it's really me in this place
I tapped on a door with my now shaking hand
And with tremulous voice said, "My name is Dan."
A booming voice said, "Would you please state your sin,
if your not on the list then you cannot come in."
A lady in red then opened the door and said,
"Welcome to hell Dan, do come in, I implore."
She said, "Please take a seat,, in fact, sit beside me."
'I've read your CV. and I like what I see'
"Your credentials are excellent, in fact, they're the best.
We are honoured to meet you, and we feel truly blessed!"
I replied, "I should not even be here, as I've done nothing wrong.
Please re-examine my CV, and you'll see I don't belong."
The rooms erupts in laughter, as she hands me a beer
Saying, "You just can't stop your lying. You are such a sweet dear."
"Your denial is convincing, and though your words may ring true."
"The evidence is overwhelming; we know all about you!"
"Your sins are so many they fill the whole book."
"In fact, the book is right here, and you're welcome to look."
I perused all the pages detailing my crimes and said,
"Ok I'm guilty of these; but I've done hard prison time!"
She said, "Your recollections are selective and detail incomplete."
"And omit all the hearts broken by your lies and deceit."
"Your absence of shame that this litany do tell,
has gained you much fame and acclaim; and a sure place in hell."
Now I'm awake and back in my own bed;
to find I was just dreaming and am not even dead
I went to the kitchen and brewed up some coffee
Then phoned all my girlfriends to tell them I'm sorry!
