Only people who read Calvin and Hobbes will truly understand this poem! I love this cartoon strip! First off, its utterly hilarious and thought provoking at times. It makes you, cry, laugh and even makes your jaw drop at times. You instantly fall in love

ON BILL'S CALVIN

Quite normal a boy
yet phenomenally different.
Plans each ploy
With deadly precision.
Innocent eyes
masking devilry,
miniscule in size
so canny, it's uncanny!
But plans often fall short,
inducing miniature ferocity
An explosion of sort
with amplified audacity
The quickest wit,
an obsession with leisure.
Intellectually dull, a bit
Hyperactive beyond measure!
Oversize apparel
Stuffed toy as a friend,
Unafraid to dabble
In the art of 'fiend'.
Mother disregarded,
Father disdained
'round women completely guarded
with an expression-pained.
Hair eternally a mess
Telling cringe-inducing lies
No one dare question
This devil in disguise!

Sounds like every male child. I have never heard of Calvin and Hobbes so I cannot say if this is accurate but you have brought something to life.

There is quite a developing maturity in your writing that, if I didn't know otherwise, would have made me think that you were older. Instead of:

Intellectually dull, a bit
Hyperactive beyond measure!

I would have put:
Intellectually dull, a lit-
tle Hyperactive beyond measure!

You get the rhyme in, use correct English and jolt people into a smile at your cleverness (you have to get the rythm just right but I think that it is worth the effort). THIS IS JUST MY OPINION and I hope that you don't mind me saying it. That is why I am not putting it onto the site.

Sorry about being technical. The poem shows a grasp of character understanding that most would not even attempt - a long snapshot of a person (whatever that means). What would you do with a real person?!

It's raining here,

Mark.
