MOTHER EARTH

Mother Earth is calling
Calling out for Intimacy
For Love

Her Soils have been eroded
And her Ozone spoilt
By Man's creativity

The Natural Green of the Grass
Has been deliberately stripped down
To a dried-up brown garment
A direct result of Man's laziness

Or perhaps Man is too busy
To cut and prune...

What is left of nature now?
Surely not a mind of its own
For the course it now takes
Is one that has been altered
Shortened by Man's interference

Profit
The prime goal of this haste
In production
Is god
Though Health declines from the Chemicals bounded.

Life is a rush
Blindly
A rush towards Death

The smile has faded from Mother Earth's eyes
And She cries
For what she has lost
And what she has left.

Nothing left but the natural scent
That creeps up from within her core
As the clouds dispense raindrops

Nothing left but the natural scent
From the flowers in the Garden
Of an Old Widow
Too much lost
Too little left
Dear Mother Earth I feel your pain.

This is a beautiful, and essential, poem. Well done!

Zoya Zaidi
Dear Cleopatra (what a lovely 'Nome de Plume'!)
Avery beautifully expressed poem on environmental degradation... it is true we are causing our own doom... reminds me of my own poem ' Who is Responsible', on environment, though not so good as this- check it out if you like?

(((Hugs for the relevant poem)))

Welcome to the Bay!!!

Love, Zoya
