a fool for a pretty smile

What Chance did I have

By M.A.Meddings

What chance did I have when I saw you
To remotely defend my heart
How could I resist your rapturous smile
And the beauty that takes me apart

The infectious lilt of you laughter
As my romantic words you endure
Your gentle riposte of a man that has lost
All his sense and good reason for sure

For he is prone to romantic rhetoric
An old 'casanova' you see
What was there to do when he first saw you
But to smile and romance then to dream

There is no limit to your mastery. "The infectious lilt of your laughter" is a classic line that I will remember.
