The poem is an attempt to describe the rythmic pattern of the soleares in words. It is for a beautiful lady who is in my heart .
Soleares by M.A.Meddings
The Soleares is often referred to as the 'mother' of Flamenco.
Its unique rythm with accents on the 3rd, 6th, 8th,10th, and 12th beats is the basis on which a number of Flamenco forms are based. Culturally the Soleares is unique to each performer of the art chiefly in Song (cante) or in Guitar (Toque) whereby they attempt to express and release the longing from there soul. The very word Soleares derives from the word Soldat, a soulful longing.
Thus in expressing that longing the performer uniquely derives his or her own Soleares ( Mi Solea) around the basic strict time signature. My poem is my own Soleares for the longing in my soul. The words below attempt to show the rythm with accents on the beats asterisked. My soulful longing is written below
How I *do* love you *end* less *ly*
Your *beau* ti *ful* Smile the *world* unto *me*
We * kiss*
Sweet *miss*
We *kiss *
Sweet miss
And I *do* love you *end* less *ly*
Your *beau* ti *ful* Smile the *world* unto *me*
You are my soul
The life I hold dear
The one longing I cannot deny
For you are the world
and whilst you are away
Mi Corazon
Ii will play Mi Solea for you
And maybe you will hear
The loneliness and yearning
Ringing o'er the ocean
For I love you as no other
You fill my soul with rapturous beauty
I can say no more my lady
The fire in my soul
Becomes my Soleares
I love you endlessly
Listen to the yearning in my heart
