Hope is a Popularity Contest

I built hope in a garage with my best friends
We had worked through the night as a team
To create such a beast that would cycle through ends
Make the world happy sunshines and cream

It would save us from global warming and AIDS
It would block tidal waves from the moon
It would deflect the heat of an exploding star
But it ran out of style too soon
